Well, I got my name and news onto the radio. I think that’s probably enough promotion for now. Once the book is published I’ll do more.
Back to giving talks next week. I really enjoy going to WI meetings. Each one is slightly different and they are all so friendly and positive.
Next event WOW on Monday and I have my ‘sixties’ piece ready to read, along with a couple of poems from “Honey and Humbug.” I still haven’t any inspiration for further writing. I hope this changes soon!
What do you have that you couldn’t do without? I know nowadays a lot of people depend on their mobile phones. What happens if they lose them? I felt annoyed when I lost my diary but I had most of the information somewhere else in the house so it wasn’t a disaster.
What I do find is that when I try to remember something and it is only on my computer I wish I had written it down somewhere. We should not rely on electronic devices. Good old paper and pen is more reliable, except when you forget where you wrote something down. Oh to be more organised!
For my political comment today – would it be a disaster if house prices went down? I can’t follow all the reasoning behind the rival groups but I do know that houses are far too expensive in relation to earnings and that we need many more starter homes and flats for young people. Logic dictates that we could do with a reduction in the number of extra people entering the country, even if they do live in multiple accommodation.
For those of you following my efforts to update my computer – I’m getting there. Today I purchased a wireless printer which I hope will be recognised by my laptop.
Then I switched on to find the last of my lost followers on my emails – as well as a load of new ones. I hope I can write enough to keep you all interested. I don’t usually start creating anything new until September and I am tempted to start an autobiography but once the novel begins to sell I expect to write short stories or poetry, if I can find a competition that inspires. I don’t like open ended subjects but Writing Magazine usually has some good ideas.
I suppose the next thing will be to start putting photos on line. So far they are all from my camera but I’ll try to work out how to do them from a phone. It’s not fun being old, these days!
I don’t know how to do a search with a tag so that I can find my lost followers but hooray! I am beginning to reach you all again except for the blogger who uses fast pencil and reblogs all the time. Please come back. I’ll hope putting this title on will assist the discovery.
Amazon should soon have my latest book on, although it won’t be officially published until next month. I’ll have to go up in the loft and find some of the other five as there may be folk at the launch who have not seen them, especially as there are three of us with books this time.
I’m getting to like my new laptop. Now all I have to do is find some of the apps I would like to have on, instead of all the crazy games.
I think I’ll have to go on twitter and see if I can find any teachers who remember the sixties as most of the people I used to chat to about writing have been lost to me.
Our workshop on “The Sixties” at WOW in Worthing is at the Ardington Hotel on Bank Holiday Monday, May 30th 2-4.30pm. Wendy Hughes will be guiding us through the era and some of the Sea Scribes will be reading from their books and answering questions about their writing. I’m lucky as “A Lesson for the Teacher” is set in the sixties, as you can see from the cover a few posts back.
It looks like we are getting a good number of replies for the launch on June 3rd. Now all I want are some reviews from the books I have sent out. I’ll be giving away a few copies in goodreads next month.
I feel very grateful to the followers who have started to read my new blog but I really miss reading the posts from the people I conversed with on the old one. I just wish I had written down their details.
I don’t know how to go about finding them. It doesn’t help that my memory is pretty poor at present and although I used to remember their names I can’t think of them. My friend who reblogs and who used to be on Librarything and the lovely lady who sends poems are really missed.
I’m off to my writing group this afternoon and reading at a workshop at the end of the month. Not feeling very creative but do need to get a recording organised for July.
So sorry to all my followers. Now I have a new blog I can’t reach all the people I was following, either. I didn’t keep a written record of them all so I’m hoping they all come back gradually.
I promise to try to write about self publishing, writing groups, novels and poems and maybe if I tag them properly you will all find me.
A Lesson for the Teacher is going out to reviewers and the three of us who are having a book launch on 3rd June at the Swallows Return had a meeting there this week with coffee and fudge!(Nice touch)
