This should be the hotel!
This should be the hotel!
Hubby and I went to the Daventry area for a couple of nights last week on personal business and he let me find the accommodation! That was dangerous. especially as I am a bit of a meany as far as hotels are concerned.
Anyway, I found the most reasonable nearby hotel and booked it, only realising too late that breakfast was extra. It didn’t matter. We could order it when we got there. I was looking for one of the more famous travel inns but they were too far from where we wanted to be. So I booked a GoodNight Inn, which turned out to be full, fair and friendly.
We had a lovely full English breakfast both days and the room, which appeared to be in converted stables, was adequate. In fact, two single beds put together to make a double was a little too large for a couple who like cuddles!
My photo from my camera will not load from my ‘pictures’onto media so I can’t show you what it looks like. I need to get this fixed. HELP!
Somebody said if I change the theme I might be able to load my photos. OK. I’ve done that but it still won’t work.
I’d be glad to hear if you all like the new theme. if not, I’ll go back to the old one. I’m a bit fed up with the computer as it has a will of its own at present. Just when I was getting used to putting pictures on it stops allowing it! Now I have to find out if the problem is wordpress or the photos. It even won’t load ones it did before! Is this Windows 10’s fault?
I’m going to try again now, with a photo I have loaded before: That worked. New one didn’t.
Finding images for book covers is getting more complicated. I keep seeing the ones I want but they are either in landscape format, which won’t work for a book cover or they are houses for sale and I don’t know if I have permission to use them!
I have saved some on Google and will try to find a way to collect and save them without having to make a purchase, but I need to show them to other people so I need to be able to send them.
I’m going to try to find one now and see if it will go on here. Am I allowed, I wonder?
It is Diesel’s birthday today. He is thirteen years old. I don’t think he’s really 92-he acts much younger than that, although he doesn’t always hear when we call him. Hubby says that’s ‘selective hearing.’
I keep thinking of improvements to the last page of my novel. I want the reader to feel satisfied. I know I hate rushed endings or those when one has to go back and check that you haven’t missed anything.
Our writing group is going from strength to strength. Wendy Hughes has local launches of her book all this month and I am planning a ‘Music and Words,’ event in May. Most of us will be at the Southern Book Show on 4th March.
I’ll add a picture of Diesel as it’s his special day.
Sunday morning, time to look for garden birds as in the book.
It’s Garden Birdwatch Day today, so hope they haven’t flown away.
We’ve put out sprinkles, balls and seeds and porage, on which pigeon feeds.
We wait to see the sparrows flock-we have an hour on the clock.
Five sparrows and two blackbirds- now, please, something special take a bow!
We know that magpies will appear, but, oh, for something new this year.
At last we see a flash of pink – is it a robin? No, I think
It is a long tailed tit and we will list it for RSPB!
( sorry can’t find a picture – have my favourite pigeon one instead)
Checking on locations from a computer is so much easier that going there. I am noted for setting my novels in Sussex, even if I don’t name the streets or buildings but this next book is set all over the country and I haven’t the time or money to go to every place.
Thanks to the internet I can view the settings I want to use and even get reviews so I can get a real feel for each place. I have been viewing pictures of Cornwall and it makes one want to visit, it looks so beautiful. The only time I usually look at photos is when I’m choosing a book cover but I haven’t decided what to put on the cover of this one yet. I’m only 15000 words in! I saved a picture but now I can’t find it to add to the post.
Another time, perhaps!
