Story writing.

Well, I finished the story for the competition and reread the instructions. It had to be under 1500 words and I had 1900. Usually I have to pad out stories. This time I had to cut, cut, cut. First I weeded out any unnecessary description, then I had a go at anything repetitive and finally I had to chop some of the action. It should be obvious who is speaking in a conversation without all the ‘he saids.’

After three tries I had managed to reduce the text. Now I have to do the cover page and send it off. Most stories in the magazine have a few lines about the writers. That should be fun to do – not a full CV, just a taster!
